How to Adopt an Animal – Complete & Responsible Guide

 

Adoption changes two lives: the animal’s and yours.
Before you begin, please read the steps and requirements carefully.

1️⃣ What You Should Know Before Adopting

Adoption is a long-term commitment.

The animals in our care have experienced abandonment, trauma, or medical challenges.

They need stability, patience, and genuine commitment.

Average lifespan:

• Cats: 12–18 years

• Dogs: 10–15 years

Please continue only if you are ready for this responsibility.

2️⃣ Who Can Adopt

You can adopt if you:

• Are over 18 years old

• Have landlord approval (if renting)

• Have time and financial resources for proper care

• Understand adoption is permanent

We do NOT place animals for:

• Breeding

• Chains or yards without proper shelter

• Surprise gifts

• “For the children” adoptions without adult responsibility

3️⃣ Mandatory Requirement for Cat Adoptions

Cats are adopted ONLY into homes with secured windows and balconies fitted with cat-safe protective netting.

This is not optional. It is mandatory.

Why?

• Falls from heights are a leading cause of fatal injuries

• Standard insect screens are not safe

• Any cat can react suddenly

Before adoption we may request:

• Photos of installed netting

• Confirmation of installation

• Written agreement in the adoption contract

4️⃣ The Adoption Process – Step by Step

1. Choose the right animal

2. Submit the application / contact us

3. Compatibility discussion

4. Home visit (if required)

5. Contract signing

Adoption becomes official after signing.

5️⃣ What Adoption Includes

All animals are:

• Dewormed (internal & external)

• Age-appropriate vaccinated

• Spayed / neutered (or mandatory later sterilization)

• Behaviorally assessed

Animals with medical conditions are adopted only with full disclosure and consent.

6️⃣ Are There Costs?

We do not charge an “adoption fee.”

However, we request a donation to help cover:

• Vaccinations

• Medical treatments

• Food

• Veterinary care

Your support helps save the next animal.

7️⃣ After Adoption

We stay by your side.

• We provide advice and guidance

• We occasionally request updates and photos

• The animal must return to us if the adoption does not work out

Rehoming without our consent is not allowed.
